The Guru Mantra,
In spring 2021 I have noticed that the Guru Mantra is contacting me. It flows into my heart, into my soul. It was there before when I got to know it many years ago, but the Gayatri Mantra was stronger. The guru mantra does not exclude anything. All energies, all forces are contained in it. All teachers, all gurus and my beloved Balinese cosmos! And the bottom line: it reminds me that the guru is within me. That I myself am the truth. The path that the external gurus have shown me leads me to the true guru who does not need a path. The light in me that is nothing other than the whole, the absolute!
Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwara,
Guru Sakshat, Param Brahma, Tasmai Shri Guravay Namaha
In February 2021, Mowgli and I went to the beach for sunset. It is exactly the time when we move in our OMline-APPshram into a new mantra. Yes, I would like to describe it that way, because the point of a mantra is that we dissolve into it and ultimately with it in the infinity of being. It was the Guru Mantra. It is a beautiful mantra and it really lives in my heart. It connects the three essential elements of being, the characteristic of nature:
create something, keep it, dissolve it …
I use the verbs because it is a process, something eternally living
sattva, rajas, tamas
sattva is the quality of constructive balance, harmony, peace and purity
rajas is is the quality of active passion, of being alive, but also of being confused
tamas is the quality of darkness and destruction
We find these three characters everywhere in the cosmos and also in our own body cosmos. The Balinese describe it as a microcosm within a macrocosm. Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, they are often seen as deities, but basically they are forces, energies that flow through everything that was, what is and what will be. Our creation is this Guru (Brahma - the power of creation); The duration of our life is this Guru (Vishnu - the power of preservation). Our very own guru consists of three energies: the power of creation, our birth (Brahma); the power of life, i.e. our time that we are allowed to live (Vishnu); and from the power that puts obstacles in our way. Illnesses, problems, mental suffering, catastrophes and not least death. It is the power of destroying old patterns, the power of triggering, the power of transformation (Maheshwara / Shiva). Guru is the remover of darkness: Gu means darkness and Ru means remover. Darkness refers to what obscures the light of consciousness. Guru is the principle of enlightenment that helps us to realize the true self. Guru helps us to dissolve the personality we have acquired in order to return to our true nature. I sacrifice (tasmai) to the beautiful (shri) remover of my darkness, my ignorance; (Guru) I bow to you and lay down my life (namah). This requires complete trust in the guru. Old patterns have to be given up, a kind of sacrifice (tasmai). We give our being to him ... I bow to him (namaha).
At that time I recited the mantra with sincere hearts at sunset. The light wasn't just in the sky, it was in me. A light full of colors. The sky was a reflection of me inside. Darkness, clouds, dark clouds, light clouds, infinity in the blue sky. Streaked with light in red, orange, yellow and white. I saw the guru everywhere. In the sky, in the sea, in the sand on the beach. And I felt the guru who was beyond anything visible. I was completely open to the Guru, receptive, ready …
and the Guru-Mantra became my personal mantra.
